Bed Bath & Beyond: Shopify Plus replatform
New Zealand's home and living retailer, rebuilt on Shopify Plus and wired into every store, the warehouse and the ERP.
Bed Bath & Beyond is one of New Zealand's best known home and living retailers, with more than fifty stores nationwide and the country's largest range of Manchester, bedding, towels and homeware. The online store had outgrown its ageing platform, and the brief was a true replatform, not a reskin.
Moustache Republic moved the brand onto Shopify Plus and rebuilt the storefront mobile first, keeping the systems that run the business in charge. Product, pricing and customer data flow in from Harmony, their ERP, orders flow out to Viare, their order management system, and every store is connected for click and collect and local delivery.
The result is a modern, faster storefront that the team can merchandise without waiting on a developer, backed by a clean integration to the systems that run the business.





How we did it
- Replatform onto Shopify Plus and retire a developer dependent legacy stack
- Keep Harmony (ERP) and Viare (OMS) as the source of truth for product, price, stock and orders
- Build for omnichannel from day one, with more than fifty stores live for click and collect and local delivery
- Tune the experience for value per visit, not just traffic
- Support complex, ERP driven pricing and promotions without hand maintenance
- Mobile first across the whole journey
- A modular, section based page system so the team can build homepages and landing pages themselves
- A refined homeware aesthetic that lets the product photography lead
- Rich product pages with feature icons, meet the range storytelling and shop the look
- Considered category navigation across a very broad catalogue
- A flexible Online Store 2.0 theme, with reusable sections so campaigns and content can be built without code
- Custom middleware connecting Shopify to Harmony and Viare: products and customers sync in, orders and sales export out, with near real time inventory and per product safety buffers
- Store level stock and click and collect logic mapped across the full branch network, including stores excluded from collection
- Bespoke bbb&me member and staff pricing, with product badging and best price handling in the cart
- NZ Post address validation at checkout, bulky item freight profiles and a free shipping threshold
- A sequenced launch day cutover, with delta data migration, DNS and email changeover and full smoke testing before go live


The Challenge
A much loved brand on an ageing platform.
- The legacy platform held the brand back on merchandising, speed and day to day flexibility
- Pricing and promotions are complex and live in the ERP, so the new store had to respect that logic, not fight it
- More than fifty physical stores meant the site had to be genuinely omnichannel, with click and collect, local delivery and store level stock
- Product and pricing data needed to flow from Harmony, their ERP, not be re keyed by hand
- Member pricing, staff pricing, gift cards and bulky freight all had to work natively and reliably
